Shorelines Film Club will launch next Tuesday in the Boathouse, Portumna, with a screening of the award-winning Swedish film, A Man Called Ove, based on the popular novel of the same name.

The film strand in Portumna’s annual Shorelines Arts Festival has proven so popular that the festival organisers decided to launch a film club and will screen three diverse films during the first quarter of this year, kicking off with A Man Called Ove.

A Man Called Ove, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2017 Oscars, is a bittersweet, compelling story of a man rediscovering himself after a devastating loss.

Darkly comic and sensitively told the film features a remarkable lead performance by Rolf Lassgård. It will be screened in The Boathouse, Portumna next Tuesday, January 30, at 8pm. Admission €5.
