Acclaimed folk duo Without Willow and slide guitarist Tom Portman will play the Poppy Lane Sessions, an intimate home-concert series in Kinvara, on Thursday, September 18.

Created and hosted by broadcaster and musician Ben McCormack, Poppy Lane Sessions offer a unique concert experience: small audiences, world-class artists, and an atmosphere where the distance between performer and listener disappears.

Donegal duo Without Willow (Karen Kelly and Simon McCafferty) whose music weaves together folk, roots and acoustic sounds, have gained a reputation for their heartfelt harmonies and soul-stirring songwriting.

They will be joined for the session by local musician, Tom Portman, one of Ireland’s most respected guitarists and multi-instrumentalists. Known for his masterful slide guitar playing and genre-spanning creativity, Tom’s performances journey through folk, blues and beyond.

“There’s something magical that happens when artists and audience share the same small space. It’s not just a gig – it’s a conversation, a connection. That’s what Poppy Lane is all about,” says host Ben McCormack.

Ben, a former radio presenter and guitarist with the group Hitchers, founded the sessions in 2023, since when they’ve become a word-of-mouth favourite among artists and audiences.

The Poppy Road Sessions have welcomed a range of emerging and established Irish acts, offering people a chance to experience live music in an intimate, community-focused environment.

Tickets are for the show on September 18 limited. For more details and to book, go to poppylanesessions.com.
