Seventy acts will take part in this year’s Galway Comedy Festival which will run from Tuesday, October 21, to Monday, October 27. The full programme will be available this Friday.

The defunct Pálás Cinema will be the main venue this year, with live comedy being performed across three stages there. It’s one of 16 venues across the city and county.

"As part of our Festival, we plan to turn Pálás Cinema into one of the finest comedy venues in Ireland,” said Galway Comedy Festival Director, Kevin Healy.

He thanked Galway City Council for giving the festival a chance “to breathe new life into the space”, adding: We're there for a good time, not a long time!”

There’s a sneak peek of this year’s line-up this Thursday at the Pálás, with four artists from the Festival programme performing: John Colleary, Aoife Dunne, Phill Jupitus and Eddie Mullarkey. Limited tickets are available at roisindubh.net. The full programme will be available this Friday.

Along with solo shows, mixed bills and live podcasts, the festival will screen classic comedy films and cartoons. There will be other comedy events and Halloween-related fun elsewhere in the Pálás.

Tickets for the festival go on sale next Tuesday, September 16, at 10am at GalwayComedyFestival.ie. The Festival Box Office will be at the Pálás from 11am-5pm every Saturday and daily during the festival.
