Opacas' Galway gig for new single ahead of Cavern Club outing

Retro rockers The Opacas will take to the stage of Monroe’s Live Backstage next Friday, May 1, for a special hometown show to mark the release of their new single, 'Take Down'. The song will also be available on Spotify from the same day.
Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, 'Take Down' captures the Opacas' signature blend of melodic hooks, classic guitar tones and energy that has become their trademark. The track is the latest release from their upcoming second album, 'Cheaper Than Therapy'.
Next week's gig from this group who came together during the early days of Covid-19, promises to be a milestone moment for Steve Talbot, Peter Tobin, Pat Boyle and Mark Raynor. They are set to perform at Liverpool's iconic Cavern Clubl in the coming weeks, following in the footsteps of some of music’s greatest legends.
With that Liverpool appearance on the horizon, next week's show might be one of the last chances for Galway audiences to catch The Opacas live for a while. Local musicians Mike McLoughlin (percussion) and Joe Treacy (guitar) have been added to the line-up for their gig.
Support at Monroe's will be from The DogsBol Ukes, whose members feature in the Galway Ukulele Festival. Their appearance promises to bring extra colour, fun and vibrancy to an already lively evening of entertainment.
People can expect a high-energy set ,packed with original songs, new releases, big hooks and the unmistakable live spirit that has made The Opacas a favourite with local audiences.
Doors are at 7.30 and the gig is at 8pm. Tickets €12+booking fee.
