New songs from Pádraig Jack at Crane Bar show
Singer-songwriter Pádraig Jack from the Aran Islands will play a concert at the City’s Crane Bar (upstairs) this Friday, June 24. It’s his first show in Galway City since his sold-out concert in the same venue late last year.
After a busy 2017 which saw him wow audiences at packed headline shows at the Westport Bluegrass Festival and the Castlebar Wild Atlantic Words Literary Festival, Pádraig Jack also debuted his soulful, bilingual music at County Down’s Soma Festival and at Belfast’s Liú Lúnasa Festival as well as at Electric Picnic.
Having played support for the Saw Doctors and Mick Flannery and bagged numerous NÓS Music Award nominations in his short career to date, 2018 has so far seen Pádraig win second prize at the prestigious Pan Celtic Song competition for his song KbhFostú sa bhFiántas. He also made his RTÉ 1 TV debut where his music featured in a documentary on the Irish language.
Pádraig Jack has been spending time in London recently making a record with producer John Reynolds. Reynolds has previously worked with Sinéad O’Connor, Damien Dempsey, Brian Eno and Indigo Girls.
This record will be finished in the next few months and the talented singer-songwriter will be playing some new material from the forthcoming release at his concert in the Crane Bar as well as enlisting some members of Galway group Rofi James as a backing band for the occasion. Support will be from Niamh Regan and Keith John and admission is €10.
