Football, music and mayhem collide in this comic tale of jigs, reels, raggle taggle and growing up in rural west of Ireland, which will run at Pádraig’s Place New Dock Road, in the city. The show, which is a work in progress, focuses on the life and adventures of a young man from the town of Moogaga. It is written and will be performed by Aindrias.
Despite having a natural talent for music the young man has only one goal; to play Gaelic football for his town. This becomes more important to him that developing his musical skills. However having neither the skill nor the physique to make the team, and frustrated by life in Moogaga, he decides to travel across Europe and America in the hope that he will find a town like Moogaga that will accept him.
He travels far and wide, all the time acquiring new musical skills yet also driven by the goal to become stronger and play football. In a one-horse town he finds acceptance and love as he learns to play new rhythms but trouble and strife soon follow.
Eventually, he returns home to find his hometown in the football final and desperately in need of something to help them win the match. Can he embrace his musical talents in time to inspire his team to win the cup?
"It’s still a work in progress, but I’m looking forward to getting help and inspiration from the local audience,” says Aindrias. “The Galway shows are always great craic and full of spontaneity, so I’m really excited to previewing the new show in the West."
