Moment in sun at Fleadh as finalists pitch ideas for films
The Galway Film Fleadh, which opened on Tuesday, is in full swing with screenings and industry events running until Sunday.
A regular fixture at the event, The Pitching Competition, will take place this Sunday, in-person for the first time in two years. It will be in the City’s Galmont Hotel, starting at 12 noon.
Ten finalists have been selected and each one will have 90 seconds to present their film idea in an ‘Elevator Pitch’, in front of an audience and panel of industry judges.
The finalists are: Jason Branagan for his horror film Crooked; Maeve Keane for her coming-of-age drama Emer; Brendan Boland for his heist romance Falling In Love Again; Conor Dowling for his drama The Family Band; Maureen O’Connell for her drama Haven; Megan Elle Day’s dramedy Late for the Sky; Eannai O Sullivan for her drama My Big Day Out; Nick Kelly for his drama The Sea Lion; Sean Mullan for his drama The Siege Of Tory Island and Ruth Earley for her psychological drama Wild Atlantic.
The winner will be announced at the Fleadh’s Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening, the closing night, and will receive a €3,000 prize.
In addition to the prize money and the chance to pitch to industry professionals, there are other benefits to being selected for the competition, according to previous participants.
