Mixed Feelings at Town Hall gallery

Mixed Feelings, a new exhibition of paintings by Richard Ward will open at the Town Hall Theatre gallery in Galway City this Friday, October 11.
The Yorkshire native has been living in Ireland – for the most part in Connemara – for over 50 years. Although his work is influenced by the wildlife around him, his travels to places like Oman, Namibia, the Middle East and Europe has also turned his eye to a wider canvas. His portraits of the Himba tribespeople were particularly striking.
Mixed Feelings, a collection of 20 paintings draws on Richard’s various travels as well as his keen eye for wildlife on his doorstep.
The work represents Richard’s passion for detail whether it’s a portrait of an African tribeswoman, an otter peeping out of foliage on a river bank or a falcon in full flight over a Connemara beach.
The works in acrylics will be displayed at the Town Hall from Friday until November 6 and are guaranteed to draw attention for their colour, attention to detail and the variety of the subject matter.
