Legend, humour and hares in Faoi Scáth…le Chéile

Faoi Scáth…le Chéile / Under a Shadow…Together is a new bilingual show about challenging times that’s being performed this Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 14 in Seanscoil Sailearna, Indreabhán. It’s on at 8pm this Saturday and at 3pm on Sunday.
Faoi scáth le chéile a mhaireann na daoine is an old Irish saying that translates as ‘we live in each other’s shadow’. In other words, we need each other to survive.
Presented by the theatre collective Giorria (Hares) it’s a journey about the power of nature and people’s resilience in the face of threat. It draws on Irish legend and uses the oral tradition to takes a comic look at what makes us get through hard times in the company of goddesses, witches, and hares!
This story for our times is presented in Irish and English and is suitable for children aged eight and over.
Giorria is a professional collective of performers and writers working in Irish across a range of disciplines. Members include Marina Ní Dhúbháin, Áine Moynihan, Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín, Beartla Ó Flatharta, Zoe Uí Faoláin-Greene, Caitríona Ní Chonaola, Anne McCabe and Marianne Ní Chinnéide, who directs.
The show challenges people to rediscover our collective power as well as cherishing the healing power of nature.
There will be live music from Steve Sweeney on box and whistle.
The group created this show over the past 18 months via meetings on Zoom, finally coming together to perform as a group in the Diseart Garden in Dingle last August. This will be their second time to perform the show and because it’s winter, it has been moved indoors.
