Henry Girls for Kinvara concert

They’re not actually the Henry girls at all – although they are sisters and there’s a Henry connection – but that’s how they’ve earned their spurs all over this country and beyond.
And this Saturday night Kinvara rolls out the red carpet for the Henry Girls – or, as they’re known at home, the McLaughlin sisters – for a concert at the GiG Room in the local Community Centre.
This debut appearance from the multi-talents folksters is the latest initiative of KAM (Kinvara Area Music) and it begins at 8.30pm.
The Henry Girls hail from Malin in their native County Donegal – and, because there are so many McLaughlins in that part of the world, the Henry distinction comes from their grandfather.
The three sisters – Karen, Lorna and Joleen – combine aspects of their Irish heritage with a strong contemporary sensibility, imbuing it with passion, insight and warmth, both in their lyrics and in their magnificent musicianship.
Donegal has a reputation for producing music and song that are as beautiful as its awe-inspiring landscape – and in this regard, the Henry Girls are no exception.
The Sunday Times described their latest album as ’astonishing’, whereas The Evening Herald heaped high praise on the sisters’ sensational talent: ‘The quality of their harmony singing goes beyond mere technique. They possess an unerring ability to blend tone and resonance in a seamless fashion’.
KAM looks forward to their upcoming live performance on the 30th and to their impeccable harmonies and catchy melodies – all with a dollop of that world-famous organic Donegal style.
Doors open 8pm. Tickets available online at www.kinvaramusic.com
