Francisco Goya (1746 – 16 April 1828) is Spain’s most celebrated artist and a major influence on modern art.

He is currently the subject of a landmark exhibition in London’s National Gallery and to tie in with this, the documentary, Goya: Visions of Flesh and Blood will be screened at the Eye Cinema on Tuesday, December 1, at 6.30pm.

This film will give art fans a chance to explore the life and work of this brilliant observer of everyday life and of Spain’s troubled past, who was also a gifted portrait painter and social commentator par excellence.

The National Gallery exhibition, consisting of great collection of unique works and of Goya’s letters, allows for a reflection of the man and the world he painted.

Goya: Visions of Flesh and Blood will give Galway audiences a rare opportunity to get up close to some of the world’s most powerful art and to learn the stories behind the work.
