Conamara Sea Week will run from October 19-29 in and around Letterfrack, with the promise of “great music, walking and talking” throughout the annual festival.

Sea Week will open on Saturday, October 19, at Interface in the Inagh Valley.  This unique arts facility which was founded by local artist Alannah Robbins, will host an exhibition of work from Irish and International artists – some of who have been living locally as part of an artist-in--residence programme.

The first weekend of Sea Week will have a community focus, with many events for family and children and great music in the local pubs.

A schools’ programme organised by ecologist Gordan Darcy will begin on Monday, October 21, and run for the week. The major mid-week event in Letterfrack is After the Light, a night-time parade on Wednesday, October 23, starting at 7.30pm. This will have participants from five local primary schools as well as GRETB students and students from GMIT Letterfrack, and members of the local Youthreach group, local crèches and people attending the Brothers of Charity.

The colourful, light-filled parade through the village will culminate at the green space at the Connemara West Centre where giant fire sculptures will be lit, making for a night of myth, magic and with a hint of madness.
