'Falling in Love Outward' at Lough Inagh artspace

Ecological devastation and repair are the themes of Falling in Love Outward, a site-specific exhibition for the Arts Festival that’s running at Interface, a unique visual artists’ workspace in Connemara’s Lough Inagh Valley.
The nine artists involved have taken inspiration from a 2020 interview with US philosopher and ecologist David Abram that explores the relationship between humans and the world we are part of.
Based on a line from that interview, which ran in Emergence Magazine, the exhibition urges a Falling in Love Outward as the only way towards ecological recovery.
Using a variety of media, including film, textile, sound and paint, the nine artists are inviting people to reflect on our physical surroundings and to question our role in repairing the environment.
The nine are members of three artist-led initiatives, which are based in Ireland, Sweden and Turkey and who came together during Covid lockdowns, via a series of online programmes run by Interface. They are Breda Burns, Jane Cassidy, Ian Wieczorek (Interface), Zahra Zavareh, Emmy Djikstra, Jenny Soep (Detroit, Stockholm), Seçil Yaylali, Özgür Demirci ([Pasaj, Istanbul), Gülçn Aksoy (Turkey-Pasaj).
