Cendrillion is the closing performance the Met Live series at the Eye for this season.

The closing performance of this season’s The Met Live, Cendrillon, takes place this Saturday, April 29, at 5.55pm in the city’s Eye Cinema.

Joyce DiDonato stars in the title role in Massenet’s extravagant take on the Cinderella story, which is being broadcast live from the Met Opera House in New York. Staged in a storybook kingdom far, far away, a country gentlemen, Pandolfe, has married an imperious countess. She and her daughters torment Pandolfe’s daughter from his first marriage. She is Lucette, also known as Cendrillon

‘Glorious’ raved The New York Times when DiDonato first starred as the title role in 2011.  “Her performance was thoroughly enchanting.”

She is paired with mezzo-soprano Alice Coote in the trouser role of Prince Charming, Kathleen Kim as the Fairy Godmother, and Stephanie Blythe as the imperious Madame de la Haltière. Bertrand de Billy conducts Laurent Pelly’s imaginative storybook production.
