The first episode of a brand-new entertainment series ‘An Deis’ will air on TG4 on Sunday, March 8, at 7:30pm, with a repeat broadcast on Thursday, 12 March at 7:30pm.

The series is being presented by Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile, from Casla in Conamara.

Journalist and broadcaster Eibhlín began her career with Nuacht TG4 and has since gone on to with TV3 News, Sky News Ireland and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

In each episode of the new series, three teams of two will compete against each other as they attempt to take home the top prize. Up to €5,000 is available to be won in every programme.

The first episode will have a strong local interest as it features friends Colm Seoige and Cian Herbert from Ros a’ Mhíl.

Contestants from all across the country – from the Donegal Gaeltacht to Cork City – will be taking part in the weekly series.

‘An Deis’ provides a platform for contestants to showcase strategy, general knowledge, and risk-taking, as they strive to claim the jackpot.

The ten-part series is being produced by Tyrone Productions for TG4 and is an original format, created by Gavin Cox and the Welsh Production Company Slam Media.

“TG4 is delighted to be part of this project, bringing an Irish-language version of An Deis to life for our audience," said the programme's Commissioning Editor Laura Ní Cheallaigh.

"Supporting and developing new formats in the Celtic languages is always a key priority for us and this collaboration with S4C is a wonderful example of creative partnership in action.

"We immediately recognised that there was something special about this format and we are excited to share it with our viewers,” Ms Ní Cheallaigh concluded.
