TV presenter, broadcaster and ultra-endurance adventurer Mark Beaumont will be in conversation at the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday, February 23, at 8pm.

In the show, Around the World in 80 Days, Scottish-born Mark will be discussing his successful quest, in 2017, to turn Victorian fiction into a two-wheeled reality.

As a cyclist, Mark first came to fame for an 18,000-mile round-the-world bike race, where he smashed the previous world record by a whopping 82 days. He followed that with a 13,00-mile ride through the Rockies and Andes, climbing the highest mountains in Alaska and Argentina.

Off the bike, his ocean trips have involved rowing through the high Arctic and surviving after capsizing mid-Atlantic

In 2015, Mark achieved another world record when he cycled 6,718 miles through Africa. The solo cycle along the length of that continent took him 41 days, 10 hours and 22 minutes, destroying the previous record.

Mark's story is a personal roller-coaster of mental and physical endurance as well as a fascinating insight into the natural world.

This two-hour talk, presented by the motivational group, Speakers from the Edge, will include photographs and extracts from the documentary of his 2017 trip as he shares his experiences of planning and executing this and other successful expeditions.

Tickets costing €19/17 from tht.ie, 091-569777 or from the Town Hall Theatre box office.
