Two of the finest exponents of traditional music, Kerry’s Brendan Begley and Clare’s Mike Hanrahan will be at the Village Theatre in Carrabane on Friday, August 12.

They are currently on tour to promote their new album, simply titled One, which features their favourite songs and tunes.

Accordionist and vocalist Brendan Begley, is the youngest of nine children from a renowned West Kerry musical family. Brendan soaked up the music and song of his native area from an early age, so it’s no wonder that slides, polkas, slow airs and songs run through his veins. He has released three acclaimed solo albums, as well as numerous recordings with the groups Boys of the Lough and Beginish. With the Boys of the Lough, he has toured extensively throughout the United States.

Mike Hanrahan on vocals and acoustic guitar, began his career with well-known singer and Grammy nominee Maura O Connell in a duo called Tumbleweed. He then spent 15 years as singer, songwriter and guitarist with Stockton’s Wing, recording and performing across the globe. Mike later joined forces with Ronnie Drew, writing producing and performing with Ronnie and Eleanor Shanley from 1997 to 2007.  More recently, Mike who is a trained chef, runs a restaurant and bar in East Cork. In addition, he performs on Stockton’s Wing reunion shows, plays with Eleanor Shanley and has collaborated with Leslie Dowdall.

Mike and Brendan will perform at the Village Theatre in Carrabane, just five minutes from Loughrea and 20 minutes from Galway City on August 12. Tickets are €15 from the Box Office, on 087 6997357, or on the Village Theatre's Facebook page.
