Belfast's Tumble Circus brings flagship Big Top show to Galway City
One of Belfast’s best-known live events, Tumble Circus is bringing its flagship Big Top production to Galway for the first time next month.
This contemporary, all-human circus will run in the city's Fr Burke Park from June 12-14, blending high-level acrobatics, aerial performance, juggling, comedy and well-orchestrated chaos inside an iconic Big Top.
Tumble Circus, which was founded 30 years ago, is best known for its Winter Circus in Belfast, which marks its 10th year this season.
Its founders, Tina Segner and Ken Fanning, recently toured nationwide with a two-person show, 'Won’t Be Told', as part of the Bealtaine Festival, performing in towns, arts venues and community spaces across Ireland.
This visit to Galway will give audiences who discovered them on that tour a chance to enjoy the overall experience of Tumble Circus.
“Tumble Circus has toured all over Ireland for years through festivals, outdoor events and touring productions, so it feels really exciting to finally bring the Big Top itself to Galway,” said Tina. “People may already know us from smaller touring shows, but this is the full-scale experience with the whole troupe.”
“We love performing outdoors and bringing circus into unexpected places,” added Ken. “But there’s something special about the Big Top show. It’s bigger, louder, more ambitious and built around the atmosphere that only happens when a full audience is in the tent together.”
The show on Friday, June 12, is at 6pm. On June 13, there are shows at 2pm and 7pm and on Sunday, June 14, there are shows at 2pm and 5pm.
