Alcohol-free music event features cream of Galway talent

Sos. is a voluntary run event that promotes social inclusion and positive mental health through music. Its opening gig will take place in Nuns Island Arts Centre this Saturday, January 20, at 7pm.
The line-up sees some of the most impressive acts in the Galway music community taking to the stage. DJ Graham Dolan is a stalwart of the town’s club scene who has played at the Body & Soul and Electric Picnic festivals.
Graham’s set will be followed by an all-ages open mic slot, then a set from young rock band JANAJ. Playing music that’s inspired by the likes of Pink Floyd, JANAJ were winners of the Irish Youth Music Awards.
The night will be closed by the superb garage pop of Dott. The quartet are led by Anna McCarthy, a songwriter who really knows how to write a hook. Their most recent release was the Beverly Baldwin EP which was recorded in Toronto by Anna and her husband and bandmate Evan O’Connor. The EP is an exemplary bit of DIY, which the pair made in their apartment.
Sos. is a welcome addition to the Galway music scene. It is an alcohol-free event, open to all ages, and is run in partnership with The Galway Arts Centre, The Galway City Council and The UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre.
Refreshments on the night are being sponsored by Mr Waffle and admission is free.
