UNION CONCERNED ABOUT LACK OF CONSULTATION OVER NUIG/UL ALLIANCE
Date Published: 18-Feb-2010
The union that represents academic and research staff is expressing concern about a new alliance between NUIGalway and the University of Limerick.
The Irish Federation of University Teachers says it's disappointed that staff and students were not consulted before the alliance was arranged.
Reports of a "strategic alliance" between the two colleges emerged earlier this week.
The idea behind the alliance is that NUIG and UL would pool resources and research.
The formal announcement of what the alliance will entail will be made in Dublin today.
The IFUT says that it hopes the alliance will benefit students and staff at both colleges.
