THE GALWAY senior hurlers were welcomed home by supporters at a homecoming event at Pearse Stadium on Monday evening. Ronan Lardner of Galway Bay FM welcomed the Galway senior hurling panel onto the stage, while Mayor of Galway Helen Ogbu spoke about the Galway senior hurlers achievements this season. Before, Darren Morrissey and Micheal Donoghue thanked the Galway fans for their support this year.

The journey the Galway hurlers have taken supporters on during this season has been nothing short of remarkable. For the first time in a number of years, there is genuine belief that the Liam MacCarthy Cup could be heading back west in the not-too-distant future.

The Tribesmen claimed their first victory at Croke Park since 2020 by defeating Dublin in the Leinster final, securing their first provincial title since 2018. Four weeks later, they produced one of the performances of the season to overcome Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final. The scenes of joy and emotion in Croke Park that day perfectly captured what the victory meant to the players, management and supporters.

Although, Galway suffered a 1-29 to 1-18 defeat to Limerick in the All-Ireland hurling final on Sunday at Croke Park. The men in maroon and white can still look back on the 2026 season positively with the progress they have made.
