GALWAY senior hurling manager Micheal Donoghue was pleased with his side’s efficiency after their 18-point victory over Kilkenny last Saturday.

The Tribesmen hit 35 scores against Kilkenny where 13 different players got in on the scoring. In the last two seasons, Galway have only gone over the 35-point mark once, in last year’s Leinster championship when they scored 6-27 against Antrim

“It’s just two points that all it is, the last few weeks I would have spoken about just improving our consistency. I think we got it for a longer period, in equal measure we would have talked about our efficiency. I think both of them contributed to a decent performance,” said Micheal Donoghue.

Galway’s win over Kilkenny has almost guaranteed their place in Division 1A for 2027.“I think when the league is on, there probably is more focus on that (the table) outside of the group, for us it’s just about building towards championship and working on what we have to work on. And giving as many players as we can the opportunity to get some gametime under the belt, that was our view.”

A victory for Galway over Limerick could see them reach the Division 1A final. The action gets underway at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday March 21 at 7pm.

John Fleming continues to be sidelined with a long-term injury, and there is still no clear timelime on Daithi Burke’s return.
