Fixture details confirmed for Presentation College Athenry's Croke Cup final
FIXTURE details have been confirmed for Presentation College Athenry’s Croke Cup final against St Kieran’s.
Presentation College Athenry face St Kieran’s in the Croke Cup final on Tuesday March 17 (St Patrick’s Day) at 1pm in Croke Park. Waterford native Thomas Walsh has been appointed as the referee.
The Athenry-based school edged past St Flannan’s last weekend in the Croke Cup semi-final, while their opponents St Kieran’s produced a late comeback to get past Nenagh CBS.
Galway U20 star Ciaran Leen was in impressive scoring form, hitting 1-14 against St Flannan’s, while Cian Hannon and Ronan Cahalan combined to score 1-4 from play.
St Kieran’s are no strangers to this competition and sit top of the roll of honour, having won 24 Croke Cups. Kilkenny senior panelist David Barcoe and brother of Adrian Mullen, Jake Mullen, are key players for the Leinster champions.
It is a repeat of the 2018, 2019 and 2023 Croke Cup finals, in which the Kilkenny college defeated Pres Athenry on all three occasions.
After coming up short in last year’s Croke Cup final against Thurles CBS, the Galway champions are hoping to win their first ever All-Ireland at this level.
