Gavin Lee remains one of Galway's most versatile players

GAVIN Lee has been on the Galway senior hurling panel since 2022, this year he was named vice-captain by Micheal Donoghue.
In his first season Lee lined out in attack. Last year, he played at number six and this year he has moved between wing back and midfield.
The Clarinbridge man has shown great versatility in his four seasons in the maroon and white jersey.
“I suppose I’ve probably played most positions at this stage. Honestly I don’t care where I play so long as I get to play,” Lee told Tribune Sport.
Lee admitted efficiency is an area Galway are looking to improve this weekend but he also noted the positive that the Tribesmen are creating a high number of scoring chances in each game.
“Efficiency is definitely something, we've had a lot of wides but the positive is that we are creating the shots. If we weren’t creating the shots, that would be more of an issue. We’ve probably played in patches up until now, we’re just looking for a full 70-minute performance this week.”
Lee is one of the players in the squad who is searching for his first Leinster Senior Hurling Championship medal this weekend.
“It’s a huge chance for us as a group. There’s a lot of lads here that haven’t been in Croke Park before for a Leinster final.
“I’ve got to play in one of them. I suppose it’s a tough place to be if you’re coming out of Croke Park without a medal. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity.
“We set out at the start of the year firstly to get to a Leinster final and take it from there. It’s up to us now to push on and see what can happen for the rest of the year ,” he added.
