Galway senior manager Daniel Moynihan is fully aware that he and his team will be judged from what happens from this stage on as they prepare for an All-Ireland ladies football quarter-final against Mayo at Tuam Stadium on Sunday.

“It’s knockout football from here on in. There’s no second chances,” stated Moynihan. “We know we need to perform for 60 minutes and perform well. Otherwise, we’re going to get caught.

“Mayo have proven in previous years where, maybe they haven’t had a run in the league or the championship and all of a sudden, they come up against Galway in knockout football and they beat us.

“It’s a tough game for us,” continued the Ballinasloe man. “That Connacht Final, it became a very tight game definitely in the second half. And we squeezed our way out of it.

“Our hope will be that lots of people come out, lots of families come out and support us,” said Moynihan.

“Hopefully, we put on a good performance for them. And if things are going a little bit rough for us, that they get behind us as well and cheer us on and make it as loud as possible.

“We don’t fear anybody that we’re going to come up against of the eight teams. That has to be our attitude. We know it’s going to be a real tough, tough game.

" We feel that we’re capable of beating Mayo and similar, if you sit down with Diane, Diane would say the exact same.”
