THE CONNACHT Senior Football Championship final between Galway and Roscommon will take place in Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon on Sunday May 10th at 4:15pm.

Hyde Park now holds a capacity of 22,000 and a bumper crowd is expected for the provincial final between the two great Connacht rivals. The last time Roscommon and Galway met in a provincial final at Hyde Park was in 2018 when the men and maroon edged past Roscommon 0-16 to 2-6.

Galway are aiming to complete a historic run of five provincial titles for the first time since they last won five consecutive Connacht Championships between 1956 and 1960. Meanwhile, Roscommon last won the Connacht SFC title in 2019.

The Tribesmen eventually overcame Leitrim last weekend in the Connacht SFC semi-final, winning 1-20 to 2-12. Padraic Joyce’s side were boosted by the returns of Shane Walsh, Damien Comer and Cillian McDaid.

Meanwhile, Roscommon stunned Mayo 2-25 to 1-18 in the other semi-final. The Rossies’ display was hugely impressive, and Galway know they will need to improve if they are to overcome Roscommon.

Tuam Stadium hosts the Connacht U20 football final between Mayo and Roscommon on Wednesday evening, with throw-in at 7pm.
