GALWAY senior football manager Padraic Joyce said John Daly will be back in contention for this weekend’s clash against Dublin.

Daly played a starring role in Moutbellew Moylough’s victory over Monivea-Abbey in Division Two of the county league last weekend and his return is a significant boost for Padraic Joyce’s side ahead of the championship.

“John has been back training with us for the last two weeks, fully now three weeks. He played a full league game and that will put him in contention (for the Dublin game),” said Joyce.

Daly is yet to feature for the Tribesmen during the National Football League, but a number of fringe players on the Galway senior football team played for their clubs in the opening round of the leagues last weekend.

Galway will aim to secure their Division one status this weekend with a victory over Dublin. The sides meet in round seven of the National Football League on Sunday at Pearse Stadium (3:30pm)

The only way the Tribesmen can be relegated is if Dublin defeat Galway by more than four points and Armagh overcome Kerry. Any other set of results will ensure their place in Division One.

“It’s a do or die game Sunday against Dublin now, it was always going to come down to the last game or two, whether you’re fighting for a league final or to stay in the Division. It’s really competitive, we expect a huge crowd in Galway on Sunday to come out and support the lads, it’ll be a good affair,” added Joyce
