Gardai 'notified' after Galway GAA pitch cameras catch car in terrible act

The club have now taken matters into their own hands and contacted gardai after the latest incident saying that “safety and respect” is of utmost importance at the club
A Galway GAA club has been left angry and frustrated after repeated incidents at their pitch over the last few weeks.
Ardrahan’s clubhouse has been targeted by drivers who have been using their grounds for illegal driving activities known as ‘drifting’ or ‘doing rings’.
Drifting a car is the driving technique whereby the driver halts traction to the rear tires which causes the vehicle to slide sideways while also containing directional control at the same time - it is described as a highly dangerous activity.
As of late, these types of drivers have decided that the small village club, nestled between Gort and Kinvara, is the ideal spot to carry out this dangerous driving act.
The club have now taken matters into their own hands and contacted gardai after the latest incident saying that “safety and respect” is of utmost importance at the club.
Sharing a photo of the car with the registration blurred out, the club said: “This vehicle was caught in the act in our car park with our night/day cameras.
“The driver is now drifting into the authorities as the Gardai were notified - because everyone's safety is paramount within our club facilities, and we expect all who enter to respect our property.”
In happier news for the club, it was double delight for a set of Galway GAA siblings as they both graduated on the same day from UL.
Hurling brothers in arms Cianan and Darach Fahy proudly held their scrolls aloft after several years of hard work off the pitch finally paid off.
On the pitch, the Fahy brothers and Ardrahan clubmen have become familiar faces on Galway teams with their county paying tribute after the wonderful feat.
Galway GAA said: “Congratulations to our Senior Hurlers, Cianan and Darach Fahy who both graduated with a Professional Master of Education recently.
“They have shared many milestones on the hurling field, and now they celebrate another one together as they graduate from University of Limerick.”
