GALWAY U-20 football manager Kevin Johnson is looking for a reaction from his side in Wednesday evening’s Connacht semi-final against Roscommon at MacHale Park.

Johnson's side face Roscommon after coming up well short against Mayo in round five of the provincial title race last Wednesday

“This is the challenge, we are fortunate to have a second chance. Look we will dust ourselves down very fast, fantastic challenge now for the lads. We will be on the training pitch again on Saturday and we are going to look forward to the Roscommon clash.”

Mayo comfortably defeated Galway 3-16 to 1-12. “Mayo in the second half, they had five wides in the whole game, they scored seven out of ten shots in that second half. For us, we had 17 shots in that second half, for us we will be pleased with a lot of our play, a lot of breaking ball something that we improved on from the last day. It’s just that shot execution let us down," explained Johnson.

“Throughout the season we have played in patches, when we play in patches we look really good but at times it’s just that inconsistency, now we are gone into knockout football.”

Johnson is expecting a tough battle against Roscommon in the Connacht semi-final. “It’s a massive challenge, isn’t that what development is about to challenge these lads. Let’s see how we react. I fully believe if we can get a little bit more consistency, we had 27 shots in that game, just the shot efficiency really let us down.”
