Man of the match Jason Rabbite caught up with Tribune Sport after Galway’s win over Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final.

Jason Rabbitte produced an inspirational performance on the edge of the square in Galway’s 2-26 to 1-18 win over Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final on Saturday. The Athenry clubman chipped in with 0-3 from play and he caused the Cork full back line plenty of problems. Rabbitte was awarded the RTE man of the match award for his performance.

Damien Cahalane man marked Rabbitte in the opening period and Ben O’Connor’s side were forced to take off Cahalane at half time after the Cork defender received a yellow card in the first half.

The Galway full forward has adapted superbly to senior inter county hurling, he has quite often been left inside in the full forward line by himself and he has provided the Tribesmen with an outlet on the edge of the square.

After a defeat earlier in the year, with the Galway U20’s against Clare in the All-Ireland final along with a defeat with his school Presentation College Athenry against St Kieran’s in the Croke Cup final last year. He has been able to put those defeats behind him and make a real impact for Micheal Donoghue’s charges.
