The last All-Ireland final to go to extra-time was Clare's dramatic one-point win over Cork in 2024 and it also happened three times in a row from 2012-2014

Your nerves can't take it and you're almost afraid to ask the question but it has to be asked: What happens if the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final between Limerick and Galway on Sunday is level after 70 minutes?

After from vast excitement, increased heart-rates and shot nerves, the GAA have also announced that there will be replays for All-Ireland finals this year - but only if sides are level after an additional 20 minutes.

"The All-Ireland final will have extra-time in the original fixture and will be winner on the day in the event of a replay," reads the GAA Master Fixture booklet for 2026.

Should Galway and Limerick be level after 70 minutes plus the two 10-minute periods of extra-time, the sides will return to Croke Park to do it all again on Saturday, August 1.

The last All-Ireland final to go to extra-time was Clare's dramatic one-point win over Cork in 2024.

In a remarkable run, three All-Ireland finals in a row - 2012, '13 and '14 - all went to replays.

Should the football decider between Mayo and Kerry be level after 70 minutes, that too will go to extra-time. If the teams still can't be separated, Saturday, August 8 is the replay date.
