Former Galway coach helps guide Mayo to All-Ireland success

FORMER Galway coach Paddy Tally played a key role in Mayo winning the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship for the first time in 75 years.
Mayo produced a remarkable performance to defeat Kerry in the All-Ireland final 1-20 to 1-17 on Sunday in Croke Park. Former Mayo footballer Andy Moran led his county to All-Ireland success in his first season. He was ably assisted by former Mayo footballers Keith Higgins and Colm Boyle, Paddy Tally and former Donegal goalkeeper Paul Durcan on his backroom team.
Paddy Tally previously coached the Galway senior football team in 2018 under Kevin Walsh where the Tribesmen reached the All-Ireland semi-final where they were defeated by Dublin. The Tyrone native has now won All-Ireland’s with Mayo, Kerry and his own county Tyrone.
Tally stepped down as Derry manager last season and made the decision to take up a coaching role with the Mayo team. Supporters all across Mayo have all made their way to Castlebar to welcome home the 2026 All-Ireland champions.
