SUCCESS tends to come in cycles and for a couple of members of the Monivea-Abbeyknockmoy football squad that took the county intermediate title last weekend, it completed a remarkable treble over the course of the past twelve months.

Craig Kennedy, who came off the bench to give a man-of-the-match performance, was also a member of the Abbeyknockmoy hurling team – winners of the county intermediate championship last year – and also the St. Bernard’s United soccer team, crowned Galway Premier League champions during the Summer.

Along with Shane King, Kennedy (22) is one of two players to be part of all three successes, while close on a dozen of the squad were also involved with the Abbey hurlers in their county and Connacht championship victories.

“I suppose it has just been one of those unbelievable years. We’ve been on a roll since winning the intermediate hurling title last year and going onto to contest the All-Ireland final, while winning the Premier League title with St. Bernard’s, was also something special.

“Last Saturday’s county final win in the intermediate football has crowned a very special twelve months for many of us. It just has been one of those great years for the parish,” added Craig.
