Cathal Mannion misses out as Galway hurling team named to face Wexford

MICHEAL DONOGHUE has named the Galway senior hurling team to face Wexford in round five of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. Galway make the trip to Wexford on Sunday afternoon with the action getting underway at 2pm in Wexford Park.
Cathal Mannion and Aaron Niland are both absent from the Galway side for this weekend’s clash with Wexford, with Niland ruled out through an ankle injury.
Manager Micheál Donoghue has made three changes following last weekend’s defeat to Dublin. Joshua Ryan and Darragh Neary, who were both introduced from the bench in that game, are included from the start. Ryan slots into the full-back line alongside Cillian Trayers and Darren Morrissey, while Ronan Glennon moves into the half back line where he joins Padraic Mannion and Daithí Burke.
Gavin Lee, who has featured at wing-back throughout the championship, moves into midfield where he partners Cian Daniels.
Neary lines out in the half-forward line alongside Tiernan Killeen and Tom Monaghan for the Tribesmen.Evan Niland also returns to the starting XV, marking his first championship start for Galway since the 2024 Leinster SHC meeting with Dublin. He joins Jason Rabbitte and Conor Whelan in the full-forward line.
John Fleming drops to the bench, while Rory Burke remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Conor Cooney and Cillian Whelan are both included in the matchday squad.
Galway will book their place in the Leinster SHC final if they avoid defeat against Wexford.
