Rental prices in the city have increased, but remain largely static in the county.

According to figures compiled by property website Daft.ie, the average monthly rent in Galway city is now 784 euro.

That's up 2.8 percent on the same time last year.

In the county, the average monthly rent is 548 euro, that's up point 1 percent on 2012.

Economist at Daft Ronan Lyons says the Galway figures show a greater balance of supply and demand in the rental market.
