No shortage of interest – or value – in final O’Donnellan & Joyce auction of the year
The bidders came from all over the country and further afield – but the prime focus was on homes in Galway city as the latest Nationwide Property Auction, hosted by O’Donnellan and Joyce auctioneers, took place last Friday in the Harbour Hotel.
There was a plethora of properties on offer, from the heart of Galway city to the villages of Craughwell and Moycullen – as well as options for buyers in Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Westmeath, Donegal and Longford.
There was also a large number of phone and internet bidders, nationally and internationally – with bids coming from throughout Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and some as far as Australia and the Middle East, bidding on the wide selection of properties.
The combination of the live auction along with internet and phone bidding and the streaming of the auction to anywhere in the world has widened the scope to obtain both national and international buyers.
The highlights of the day were in Galway City and its suburbs – all attracting a huge amount of interest from investors, first time buyers and owner occupiers alike.
Some of the Galway city properties on sale included a detached four bedroom home in the popular residential development of Dun na Coribe on the Headford Road which went for €378,500.
Following a number of sales in this development in last month’s auction, a number of owners considered parting with their investment properties and those who chose the auction method of sale, came out trumps with great sales prices achieved.
A two-bedroom terraced home in Fairhill Road, The Claddagh sold prior to auction for €350,000 – a staggering €100,000 above the reserve price.
