Pioneering Galway space is full to the brim as entrepreneurs vote to share
Galway city's first dedicated co-working space SuperPixel Labs has revealed that their second space in Fairgreen is now completely full after just three months.
A mix of businesses have made the space their home, 61 members are working in the space every day, not including visitors who are using the conference and meetings rooms.
“The first three months have been so encouraging, and to be able to say we are at 100% occupancy is a massive achievement,” said Tara Dalrymple, Community Manager of SuperPixel Labs.
Recent research of 40,000 companies worldwide by Regus confirms that SMEs continue to be keen users of co-working space.
While sharing an office space used to be seen as a short-term answer for start-ups on a budget or entrepreneurs seeking company, 67% are integrating co-working into their long-term strategies.
Co-working gives SMEs the opportunity to scale operations up or down rapidly without incurring extra costs, allowing them to remain agile and responsive to sudden market changes.
Co-working provides ‘digital nomads’ an office-like place, as well as a social gathering platform of independently working professionals that share values or interests.
“By having so many different crafts and talents in one place really benefits our community members. As well as creating friendships, they are now collaborating on projects and tenders which has just happened organically between them,” added Tara.
SuperPixel Labs was founded by Barry and Mike Duffy in 2014 with an eleven-desk space in the Latin Quarter in the heart of Galway city.
Both are civil engineers from NUI Galway, and graduates with a Masters in Project Management from Smurfit Business School.
Barry also completed a Masters in Finance in Imperial College London. Mike has several years’ digital project management experience in Accenture before creating SuperPixel Labs.
Tara herself has strong roots in multinationals and well known household brands – Marks & Spencer, Volvic, David Beckham, Disney, 20th Century Fox – with a varied and wide breadth of experience across different industries from IT consultancy to Financial PR.
