One in 5 Galway burglarly victims admits house was unsecured
Galway Bay fm newsroom - One in five Galway burglary victims admits entry was gained to their homes through an open window or unlocked door.
New figures released by the AA also reveal that almost 5% of homes in County Galway have been targetted by burglars in the last five years.
The survey of 15,500 home-owners nationwide shows an overall increase in the incidence of burglaries between 2004 and 2012 throughout the western counties.
Nationally Louth, Laois, Offaly and Kildare have the biggest problems.
The AA is urging home-owners to take more care in securing their homes.
