Met Eireann forecast update as weather experts warning Storm Austen risk possible next week

The National forecaster has issued its latest update after two weather experts have warned of the risk of the first storm of the year
Met Eireann has updated its forecast after two weather experts warned of the possibility of Storm Austen hitting our shores next week.
Carlow Weather and Weather Alerts Ireland, both of whom have been known for catching previous major storms in Ireland early on, were both in agreement that something big could hit next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly alerted his followers saying: “Still some uncertainty around this weekend and especially Saturday.
“At present the risk of rain for Croke Park is low Saturday. The weather models also show a risk of a storm next Tuesday into Wednesday.
“Nothing too severe but one to keep an eye on and could be our first real blast of wind in a while.”
While Weather Alerts Ireland added: “A risk of a storm moving towards Ireland next Tuesday. The UK and ECMWF models are both forecasting a low pressure system approaching Ireland.
“This has been forecast on different models on different days too. Still plenty of time for change so I will be watching over the coming days.”
For the moment, Met Eireann aren’t confirming anything saying that Tuesday will be crisp and breezy with scattered showers and fresh coastal winds adding that Wednesday will be unsettled but with unseasonably wet and breezy weather and lower temperatures in the low teens.
Here’s how they are saying the rest of this week will pan out:
Thursday: “Today will start off with a mix of light scattered showers and hazy sunshine. Through the afternoon it will become cloudy and wet as rain spreads from the west. Rain will turn heavy and persistent at times later this afternoon, particularly in Munster and south Leinster. Feeling mild and humid with highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, in a light to moderate southwest wind, strong at times in the northwest.”
Tomorrow: “Friday will be bright and breezy with scattered showers, mostly affecting the northern half of the country. Some southern counties may remain dry for the day. Cooler than previous days with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees, in moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong and gusty along west and north coasts.”
