There will be some big changes on the weather front

Met Eireann has updated its weather forecast for the week after a spate of warnings across the weekend brought some horrendous weather.

Electric Picnic was a washout for festival goers and they will be raging to hear that this week seems a lot better across the board.

Monday will bring dry weather for most of the day with some bright or sunny spells for a time alongside scattered showers.

Cloud will increase as the day goes on with temperatures hitting 18C before dropping to high single digits in the night - the first time we’ve seen that for a while.

There will be clear spells and scattered showers with some mist and fog patches too in the north and west.

Here’s how the weather is looking for the next few days according to Met Eireann:

Overview: “Unsettled with showers or more persistent spells of rain forecast for each day. Becoming breezy at times too. Current indications suggest it will remain unsettled into next weekend and it will turn a bit cooler and fresher too.”

Tuesday: “Tomorrow will bring a few bright or sunny spells early on to the east and south. Otherwise a rather cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, turning heavy in parts of the north. Wet weather developing in the southwest later in the day too. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, coolest in the north and warmest in the south, with a light to moderate southwesterly breeze.”

Wednesday: “A breezy day with cloud and rain clearing northeastwards in the morning and early afternoon. A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers following from the southwest. Warmer than previous days with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.

Thursday: “Some bright or sunny spells and a few showers for Thursday before wet weather becomes widespread from the Atlantic later in the day or overnight. Highest temperatures 17 to 21 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds, easing later.”
