A water tanker has been put in place on the Doughiska Road by Galway city council for householders who are without water in the east of the city this afternoon.

The council will have a second tanker in Ballybane, by the church, at five thirty this evening as efforts continue to repair a burst pipe on the Headford road.

A twenty-one inch mains pipe, four feet underground that feeds water to the Ballybane reservoir, is being repaired by the council, and they expect to finish late tonight, with water expected to return to domestic pipes by tomorrow morning.
