Water problems in Portumna due to shutting down of reservoir
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The water resevoir in Portumna has been shut down following a power cut in the area caused by yesterday's storm.
Galway County Council says this will cause water outages/shortages in the Portumna area for a time.
The ESB are working to resume the electricity supply at the moment and it is hoped to have the water reservoir back in action as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, electricity has been restored at a secondary school in Portumna which is closed to pupils today after yesterday's storm.
High winds caused a power outtage at Portumna C.S. on St. Brigid's road shortly after 3pm and the school had no electricity, heating, water and very limited phone signal.
Principal Derry Long says the school is continuing to assess the water situation but anticipates it will re-open tomorrow.
There is no structural damage to the building, and exams which were expected to take place today will be re-scheduled.
