Date Published: 04-Nov-2012
Visiting restrictions have been introduced at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
Four cases have been confirmed in St John's Ward where all visiting has been banned.
Restrictions have been put in place elsewhere in the hospital and visitors are asked not to enter any ward before contacting nursing staff.
The hospital has requested that under no circumstances should any member of the public with symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting enter the premises.
The HSE West has confirmed to Galway Bay Fm that infection control procedures have been increased throughout the Ballinasloe hospital.
