Foul play is not suspected in relation to the discovery of a man’s body at University of Galway on Sunday.

Galway Gardaí confirmed earlier this week that they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man on the university grounds in the city on June 7.

A spokesperson said Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident where a man was found unresponsive on educational campus grounds at Newcastle at around 7.45pm on Sunday.

The man, aged in his 30s, was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that a post-mortem examination was completed but the results are not being released for operational reasons.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner,” the Garda spokesperson added.

The Connacht Tribune understands that foul play is not suspected at this time.
