UNIONS GET TOGETHER TO ORGANISE GALWAY MARCH

TRADE UNIONS in Galway have joined forces to organise one of six nationawide demonstrations this lunchtime under the umbrella title "Lift the Burden - Jobs Not Debt".

The Galway march is assembling about now from outside the Cathedral AT 1.30 and the march will proceed to the Spanish Arch for speeches after 2pm.

Pádraig Mulligan, of the IMPACT trade union in Galway, says dispite the promissory note from Europe this week, the trade movement is arguing that Ireland needs 'a proper and effective debt deal' and without it there will be dire consequences for everyone.
