UHG PORTER STAFF CLAIM JOBS LOST AS A RESULT OF WALK OUT

Date Published: 19-Oct-2010
Several staff at University Hospital Galway claim they have been taken off the payroll following a walk out protest at the hospital yesterday.
At least seven porters stopped work and gathered outside UHG in retaliation over the return of a worker who had been suspended last December.
The worker in question had been suspended pending an investigation of an alleged assault.
Workers are taking the action under the health and safety act, and claim health authorities failed to carry out a risk assessment at UHG prior to this person's return to work.
