Concern has been raised about a machine worth 400 thousand euro, which has been lying idle at University Hospital Galway.

The machine for the urology department was bought 18 months ago.

Now, 5 consultants at the hospital have written to the Health Minister, Dr. James Reilly to express their concern.

According to the Irish Times, the ESWL machine was bought for UHG in February 2010 to treat patients with conditions such as kidney stones.
