TWO YEAR SENTENCE FOR BALLYBANE MAN FOR HANDLING STOLEN TV

A city man has received a two-year prison sentence with the final year suspended after he was caught red-handed with a stolen television in the boot of his car.
36 year old Christopher Bingham, of 9 Ard Alainn, Ballybane, at first denied a charge of handling a stolen 32-inch Philips plasma television on December 2nd, 2007, knowing it was stolen from a neighbour’s house.
A jury was sworn in at Galway Circuit Criminal Court to hear evidence in his trial.
However, after some Garda evidence was presented to the jury, Bingham decided to change his plea to that of guilty and the jury was discharged.
