TWO MEN BEFORE VENEZUELAN COURT ON DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENCES

Two Irish men are charged with drug trafficking offences in Venezuela - after their companion, another Irish man, died from a drug overdose.

Martin Beirne - who had lived in Sligo for some time - died in hospital after a stash of cocaine he was carrying inside his body burst open.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it's providing consular assistance to Mr Beirne's family.
