TURF CUTTERS TO PROTEST AGAIN IN GALWAY

Date Published: 10-Oct-2011

Turf cutters are planning further protests in Galway today to co-incide with the tour of presidential candidate Gay Mitchell.

The Fine Gael candidate will be joined by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny for a visit to the Jigsaw project in the city this morning.

He will later take part in walkabouts at Eyre square, Tuam and Ballinasloe.

The turf cutters are planning to hold protests in Tuam and Ballinasloe.

Yesterday, over 200 people took part in a demonstration in the city to highlight their opposition to the ban on cutting turf in restricted bogs.
